So, I just got off the phone with a detective from the CID in Adelaide. Yes, I hear you cry, THAT IS SO AWESOME. I thought so too! Yay for me helping in an investigation! Um, it's not anything I'm involved with - I'm just one of the people who was involved in a defrauding scam way back when, and the detective was calling just to see if I knew anything. It wasn't mentioned that I couldn't talk about it - but I'm going on the assumption that there is this "right to privacy" or something. Although...OH MY GOD, AFTER MY LEGAL RESEARCH THERE REALLY IS NO SUCH RIGHT IN AUSTRALIA. Um, at least one thing came out of my torts assignment? Anyway, it was cool to talk to a detective. In my mind I pictured him looking like Ray Kowalski (Vecchio). It made the conversation VERY pleasant. Also, I haven't watched actual normal tv in MONTHS. Suffice to say, I know Heroes et al are returning to Aussie TV soon, not to mention series premieres, I just don't know when. Or on what channel. Heroes = channel 7, and I think I was told next thursday? (When I am at work *curses*), but House? New tv show with Ginger-Man (Life?), other awesome tv shows? I MUST FIND OUT AND MAKE A TV SCHEDULE. Um. This was kind of a nonsensical post, eh. I will actually do an introduction post, probably tomorrow. It's kind of sad when you can't remember all the things you are interested in, hey? Currently reading: Nelson Mandela's autobiography. I figure, I lived in that country for 11.5 years, I ought to know a bit more about the guy.

I have returned, my pretties! Nine days and I survived with no internet! No flist! I had a peek last night when I got in, but there is just WAY too much for me to even try to catch up. I am, at the moment, trying to set up my laptop (OMG THE DRAMA) and will then catch up on TV. And then sleep. And then somehow go to work tomorrow. Just a funny little story: apparently, men like the movie 'top gun'. Who would have thought? Women like it for obvious reasons - hot men, shirtless volleyball, awesome planes...sexual tension...ANYWAY. I bought a t-shirt that has the top gun logo on it (IT IS SO AWESOME I HAD TO OWN IT) and wherever I go people are like - TOP GUN! I LIKE IT! So anyway, I get on the plane, and I'm sitting there, and one of the guy flight attendant guy walks past and looks at me, and shouts TOP GUN! and grins and says something about an announcement he does, but didn't plan on doing this flight. All I could say was "I DIDNT MEAN TO WEAR THIS TOP! NO IRONY HERE!". Anyway. So a couple times during the flight this guy would walk past and grin and say "TOP GUN!" and walk off before I could reply. Then, just as we are getting ready to descend, he walks past is all, "Hey top gun! You must listen real well to the final broadcast, okay?" and I'm like...uuuuh....okay? So as we're driving down the tar mac, and like I didn't see this coming, the freaking Top Gun theme music comes through the speakers, the entire plane turns and grins at me, and the guy is using an American accent and top gun slang in the usual "welcome to blahblah, seats in upright positions, thank you, etc etc"....I think I was slightly horrified. My favourite line from his cute (and funny!) speech thing was about the exits --- " Keep in mind your closest exit may in fact be behind you.....like a stalker". I giggled. Anyway. Also, because I am LAMELAMELAME, while I was in Adelaide I embarrassed myself greatly by forcing whoever I was with at the time to let me take these photos: Make them bigger. Seriously. You won't regret it. It makes me want to write SGA fic where Sheppard and McKay have rivalling businesses that have nothing to do with each other but because they are Sheppard and McKay....yeah. :-). I grinned a lot. I will also post up pictures from my trip in another entry - this one will just have my travel journal, which I do not expect you to read! It is SO VERY LONG. So: Highlights of my trip
- Plane rides = AWESOME. I love flying so much.
- Seeing all my friends again.
- Tripping down a stair that was about three centimeters high and scraping half my knee off
- Embarrassing myself twice over on two separate occassions trying to sort out my laptop
- Cooing over Adelaide
- Claire's attractive sharehousemate who likes awesome TV shows and movies
- The final saturday night getting pissed and dancing like a loon and walking up through the city singing Moulin Rouge songs
- House marathon at Katherine
- All the twenty billion chocolate bars Adelaide has.
- Falling down a second time and scraping ALL OF MY KNEE off and bleeding on my new dress
- Spending ten days eating nothing but CRAP and 2 homemade meals. =not awesome.
- Sitting at the wrong busstop for 50 minutes.
- Top Gun!

Just a quick update: Sorry all! I haven't seen any of my comments yet (and doubt I will 'til I get back home), but while Katherine is in the shower I thought I would update you a bit:
I AM IN ADELAIDE! I swooned and cooed in the plane as we flew over the city (so pretty!) while Libby clutched my arm in horror and I informed her of my knowledge on planes and crashing thanks to my love of TV shows such as Air Crash Investigation (what an awesome friend I am!). I arrived and was met by Nicole (who I stayed with on the first night - SHE HAS A NEW HUGE HUGE HOUSE), Julia, Kate and Bonnie and we went out for some food. Then on Saturday I went into the city with Nicole and Hannah. Can I just say how much I missed Adelaide? I cooed so much! I will have to take some photos. Really. Saturday saw me shipping my stuff to Katherine's house where I stayed the night. We went out to a couple of bars and met up with some people and it was very nice! I didn't cave and wear a dress, either. Me=awesome. Anyway.
And update on my computer saga: I TOOK IT BACK. And they were very nice and gave me a new one. However: since I didn't have the original box, they just gave me the laptop out of the box (which I was grateful for), and let me keep all the plugs and stuff from the other one. I just shoved the new laptop into my bag and off I went for a day in the city (Saturday). HOWEVER. When I got back to Nicole's, I thought I would load up the computer and check that everything worked. The only problem? THEY FORGOT TO GIVE ME THE BATTERY FOR THE LAPTOP.
No, seriously.
How lucky can one girl get?
So now I have to force someone else to drive me to whereever how far away this place is -- AGAIN --. I feel like such a moron. Today it is also 40 degrees here in Adelaide. I may just die.
Well. That's my news! Today I will go see a movie, and then probably stay at my friend Kate's house. Then it's off to Claire's, and finally Julia's before I return home.
In conclusion: laptop = sucks. Adelaide = awesome.

*sends jedi mind tricks* I am not updating for the billionth time today.*
In other news: OMG24OMGJACKBAUEROMGOMGOMG. For serious, yo. I was a bit...hmmmm...to start off with, but, exclamation marks! Oh, 24, how I love you. And Heroes starts tomorrow night, which I am very happy about! I wanted to download it, but yeah, lack of downloads. But now it's here! I AM SO EXCITED.
It has also been almost 6 hours and no crackling noises to be heard from the laptop. Kavanagh. On the other hand, I had to reboot it again, but this time I haven't loaded any software onto it (precious software!) and I have an (expensive) computer protection thing going (McAfee - you fucking better be worth all that money that I couldn't afford to spend). Seriously. I will have no money for Adelaide. It is very, very bad.
In other news, it appears that my computer has died and gone back to dial-up speeds, and while thats okay for the rest of the population who reset on the first of each month, I am unlucky and reset only on the 10th. God. Dial-up. I am just grateful I am gone over that period.
On that note, I leave for Adelaide this Friday and won't be back until February 11/12th. I seriously doubt I will be checking my email or flist at all during that time, so I will be lost without all of you! If you want my cell phone number incase of anything important (OMGFANDOMNEWS!!!) I can leave it in a screened comment? I don't know how I am going to live for 10 days without fandom! Seriously - it is that sad. Really. I have no shame over that.
But for now I will go back to violently hating this laptop.

I am writing this now from my new, shiny laptop! It is really, really huge. Really. And totally not widescreen like the other one. Did I mention huge? Because it is huge. Really huge. It is an ex-demo laptop, which is why I got it for like, $1250 instead of the $1700-$1900 it normally costs, and so it came with no discs (I didn't know this! I was upset! I may have to write and ask if I was meant to?) and panicked for a while when I turned it on (everything loaded) and there was no 'start' written on the little green 'start' button, the internet kept failingand my email page kept coming up blank. Panic! But then I switched it off so the updates could install, and now it works! Have I mentioned yet that this thing is huge? But it has lots of memory and is intel core duo and is Vista compatible (I am excited for vista, yo!)
I now have the problem of transferring my files from the one laptop to this one, as the other laptop is not DVD-R enabled and so I have to do everything via CD's and yes, hello, I have a lot of crap on that computer. *sigh*. This is going to be a long afternoon. New laptop also means having to download all my stuff again - messenger, itunes, divx etc etc....
One other thing: all of our computers at home currently run on separate antivirus software (all norton, for shame). Does anyone know how I can link them all up so not to pay $99 for each, each year? Do I have to buy a separate antivirus that does protect more than one computer?
It is still really hot. Really, really hot and my aircon does not want to function. On top of this, I have a sore throat and still have to plan for Adelaide. On this note, I think I have my accommodations (mostly) worked out. I will stay with Nicole first (yay!), then Katherine, Michaela, Claire and then Julia, for the longest.
OH - and what shall I name this new computer? All of my, uh, technology to date has been named with an SGA related theme. I think I might like to keep it? Ideas, people!
